ProxyRouter changelog
macOS 13+ · Apple Silicon and Intel · Updates arrive in the app through Sparkle, and every update package is signature-checked
Release notes are kept in English, as shipped with each update.
Version 1.0.0 · build 41 — latest
Everything that changed since build 24.
Privacy
- WebRTC leak protection: apps routed through a proxy can no longer reveal your real IP over UDP (WebRTC/STUN).
- DNS leak protection: lookups made by proxied apps are no longer sent to your local DNS, so sites can't see your ISP. Controlled by “Resolve Domains via Proxy (fake-IP)” in Settings.
- Proxy DNS check: the Proxies list now shows whether each proxy resolves names where it exits, or leaks them back to your local network. Local DNS, proxy-chain DNS and the current exit country are reported separately. Also available to AI assistants through the MCP tool
check_proxy_dnsand asproxyrouterctl proxy dns-check.
Faster
- Rules that match a domain, such as claude.ai, no longer slow down apps that go direct. Those apps can use HTTP/3 again, and their traffic is no longer relayed through ProxyRouter. Domain rules still apply to apps that use the system DNS.
- AirDrop, AirPlay, Continuity and other peer-to-peer transfers bypass ProxyRouter and run at full speed.
Fixed
- macOS no longer asks for permission to “access data from other apps” after every update, and ProxyRouter no longer stalls at launch while that dialog is waiting. The command-line tool no longer triggers it either.
- After several hours of use, web pages could stop loading until ProxyRouter was restarted. This happened when a DNS connection failed once, for example after sleep or a network change. Such connections are now replaced automatically.
- Rules added since the proxy was last switched on now take effect immediately after an update.
- The extension now waits for activation and for the current rules before reporting ready, keeps live statistics after updates and while the main window is closed, and can be stopped while authorization is still pending.
- AI desktop apps installed outside the Applications folder (for example via Setapp) are now found for the recommendations.
- Country names and several labels that stayed in Chinese now follow the app language.
Updates
- Update checks use short-lived, update-only credentials, so your sign-in session is never handed to the updater. Nothing is downloaded until you confirm.
macOS will ask once to allow ProxyRouter’s DNS proxy — please click Allow.
Version 1.0.0 · build 24
Fixed
- “Install CLI” created a link pointing at the wrong path.
- The command-line tool did not detect a running app, so
status,logsand--jsonreported stale state. - Write operations from the CLI and MCP had no effect while the app was running.
- Domain rules were skipped when an app resolved the IP address itself.
New
- The app list now suggests common CLI tools such as Claude Code and Codex — confirm to add them.
proxyrouter <command>launcher: run any command through a proxy you pick.- Route individual apps over a VPN interface.
- One-click jump to approve the network extension.
ProxyRouter comes with a free full-feature trial, no card required.
